Milk Supply
The district being a Specified Area for purposes of the Milk (Special
Designations) (Specified Areas) Order, 1951, all milk sold by retail must
be "designated milk" and all retailers must be licensed to use a special
designation in relation to milk.

Milk Distributors.

The number of registered Milk Distributors is 20. The designated licences issued during the year were as follows :

Bacteriological Examination of Milk.
Two hundred and twenty samples of milk were procured and submitted
for bacteriological examination. Six failed to comply with the prescribed
standard of the Regulations.

Biological Samples.
Thirteen samples were taken of the milk produced at the three farms
in the district before it was treated in any way. These were submitted to
animal inoculation tests and showed no evidence of tuberculosis.
