Section C—Sanitary Circumstances.
Water Supply
The Sutton and District Water Company supplies water to the
whole district except to 170 dwellings in the extreme north which are
supplied by the Metropolitan Water Board. The source of supply is
normally from wells in the chalk at Sutton, Cheam and Woodmansterne,
but it can be augmented, if necessary, by the Metropolitan Water
Board, the Epsom and Ewell Corporation and the East Surrey Water
Company. The Company is under statutory obligation to soften to
9° of hardness.
All dwellings have a piped supply from the mains. The finished water
is not plumbo-solvent.
The following is a summary of the results of the tests carried out by the Company and are supplied by courtesy of the Engineer and Works Manager.
