Milk Supply.
On October 1st, 1951, the Milk (Special Designations) (Specified
Areas) Order, 1951, made by the Minister of Food came into force. It
required that all milk sold by retail within "certain specified areas, including
Carshalton, shall be designated milks and all retailers selling
milk in the areas specified will need to be licensed to use a special
designation in relation to milk. It so happened that immediately prior
to that date we had no evidence that undesignated milk was being sold
in the district.
The number of Milk Distributors registered is 17. Designate d licences issued during the year were as follows:—

Bacteriological Examination of Milk.
Two hundred and twenty-six samples of milk were procured and
submitted for bacteriological examination.
All the milks were sold under the Milk (Special Designations)
Regulations and 4 failed to comply with the prescribed Regulations.
