DEATHS.
The deaths allocated to the district numbered 538—266 males and
272 females. This is 51 more than in 1950 and gives a crude death
rate of 8.7 per thousand population as against 7.8 in the year before.
The " comparable " death rate produced by the application of the
Registrar-General's factor of 1.25 to allow for age and sex differences
in the population compared with the country as a whole was 10.8 per
thousand population. The rate for England and Wales was 12.5. The
comparability factor is exceptionally high due to the very low average
age of the population, which is probably the lowest in Surrey.
