Section B—Health Services.
Nursing in the Home.
Home nursing is now the responsibility of the County Council as
the local health authority under Section 24 of the National Health
Service Act, 1946. Under the County scheme an agreement has been
entered into with the Surrey County Nursing Association to which the
majority of the voluntary District Nursing Associations are affiliated.
Laboratory Facilities.
Clinical material in connection with infectious disease, food
poisoning, puerperal pyrexia and tuberculosis was submitted for
examination to the Emergency Public Health Laboratory, St. Helier
Hospital, the Sutton and Cheam Hospital Laboratory, and in special
circumstances to the Epsom Public Health Laboratory.
The facilities provided by the Public Health Laboratory Service
at Epsom are restricted by the inadequacy of the premises in which the
Laboratory is accommodated. In consequence the biological testing
of milk for tuberculosis cannot be undertaken.
Food and Drugs and water samples were examined by Mr. D. D.
Moir, the Council's Public Analyst, whose laboratory is at 16, Southwark
Street, London, S.E.1.
