DEATHS.
The number of deaths allocated to the district by the RegistrarGeneral
for 1949 was 521, of which 250 were males and 271 females.
The crude death rate was accordingly 8.3 per thousand population
compared with 7.4 in the year before. The "comparable" death rate
arrived at by the application of the Registrar-General's comparability
factor of 1.26 to allow for differences in the age and sex composition
of the population was 10.4 per thousand population. This is the figure
to be compared with the death rate for England and Wales of 11.7.
