Whooping Cough.
The number of cases notified at 106 (all residents) was 79 less
than in the year before. The incidence was fairly evenly distributed
over the year and over the district. There was no death.

Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
There was one case of this ophthalmic infection in the new born.
Recovery was complete after three weeks' home treatment under
a private doctor.
Puerperal Pyrexia.
In-patient accommodation for maternity cases has in recent years
been established on a considerable scale at the St. Helier County
Hospital. Some 1,800 babies, from an extensive part of Surrey, are
