The number of factories on the register increased slightly from
99 to 104, of which 64 had mechanical power. The total employees
fell from 1,900 approximately to 1,740, of whom 800 were males
and 940 females.
No formal notices were necessary, and only two informal notices
were served under the Factories Act.
