DAY NURSERIES.
The Carshalton Day Nursery in Camden Road is administered
by a voluntary committee and receives a substantial yearly grant
from the Council. It now provides 24 places, the accommodation
having been increased to meet war-time needs by six places in 1943.
Fifty individual children made 4,549 attendances during the year
giving an average attendance of 15 on each of the 303 days the
nursery was open. The figures were adversely affected in July and
August when the flying bomb offensive was at its height.

Towards the close of the year negotiations were in progress
with the Ministry of Health for the extension of the nursery to 74
places and for the erection of further nurseries in other parts of the
district.
