DAY NURSERY.
The Carshalton Day Nursery, administered by a voluntary Committee
and assisted by a grant from the Council, has provided
nursery facilities in the district for many years. The premises were
closed at the end of July for the usual August holidays, and, in view
of the difficulties brought about as a result of the outbreak of war, they
remained closed for the remainder of the year. Early in 1940, shelter
facilities were provided, and, with certain modifications in the organisation,
it was re-opened.
The number of places authorised is 18. The attendances numbered
1937 for the 135 days on which the nursery was open, giving an
average attendance of 14.3 per day.
