Average age at death :—
Males 63.33 years.
Females 63.09 years.
All persons 63.20 years.
Respiratory Diseases.
Respiratory infections, including those of an influenzal nature,
were less prevalent than in the year before. Influenza was responsible
for 3 deaths against 19 in 1937, whilst bronchitis, pneumonia,
etc., other than influenza, accounted for 39 compared with 52
previously.
The death rate for the respiratory diseases (excluding influenza)
was 0.66 per thousand population.
Inquests.
Inquests were held on 27 deaths, 16 of which were on persons
resident in the district.
