BIRTHS.
The number of live births registered was 867, of which 454 were

birth rate falls slightly from 15.0 to 14.7, which is the lowest yet
recorded for the district. Illegitimate live births included in the
total numbered 21, 8 male and 13 female.
There were 33 still births, 22 male and 11 female, 2 of which
were illegitimate.
Ward Birth Rates.
No information is available to district Medical Officers of

which take place outside the district. Consequently, the whole of
the registered births cannot be classified on a ward basis. For
comparative purposes, therefore, use is made of the births notified during the year.
