Section E.—Inspection and Supervision
of Food.
Milk Supply.—There are four producers of milk in the district
with a total of about 120 cows. Two are licenced to produce
Accredited Milk.
The number of retailers on the register is 112, of whom 5 were
registered during the year. Fifty-seven of the retailers have
premises in the district, the remaining 41 retail milk brought from
premises outside.
Very little raw milk is sold in the district, the bulk of the supply
being pasteurised, although not all sold as pasteurised.
Periodic inspection is carried out of all cowsheds, dairies and
milkshops and 100 samples of graded and ungraded milk were
taken for bacteriological examination during 1937. An analysis of
the results of these examinations is shown in table 15.
Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1936.—Licences to retail
milk under the above Order were issued by the Council as
follows:—

Meat and Other Foods.—Most of the meat consumed in the
district comes from the London and Croydon Markets and has
already been inspected.
