The full scale fees fixed by the County Council for the services
of the midwives are as follows:—
As Maternity Nurse 35s.
As Midwife 40s.
Provision is made in the scheme for reduced fees in necessitous
cases.

The following indicates the work done by the District Council s 2 midwives from the time of their appointment to the end of the year.

Voluntary Helpers.—As in previous years, the welfare centres
had the benefit of the untiring and willing assistance of a number
of voluntary helpers. The value of this public service given with
commendable regularity deserves the appreciation of the residents
of the district.
