Orthopaedic Treatment.—The Council has an arrangement
with a masseuse for massage and corrective manipulation for early
orthopaedic defects in children. Cases requiring specialist opinion
are referred to the Croydon General Hospital. Assistance is
given where necessary in the provision of surgical appliances and
in-patient treatment in special hospitals.
During the year one case was helped with special splints for
genu-valgum and one case of club foot was maintained in a special
hospital for 10 months of the year.

Twenty-three children were given 484 treatments by the masseuse for the following defects:—

Convalescent Treatment.—The scheme provides for convalescent
treatment for mothers and babies, and children. The
Council subscribes to the Convalescent Home for Surrey and
gives financial assistance to cases provided with convalescent
treatment through the agency of the Invalid Children's Aid Association.

During the year one mother and baby and 4 children received treatment under these arrangements. They were for the following conditions:—

Maternity Hospital Treatment.—The Council has an
arrangement with the Carshalton, Beddington and Wallington
District (War Memorial) Hospital for the admission of women
requiring treatment for ante-natal conditions or confinement.
Cases of puerperal pyrexia may be sent to Queen Charlotte's
Isolation Hospital. The Council accepts financial responsibility
in each case and requires a contribution according to means.
Maternity cases are also referred to the County Hospitals.
