MATERNAL MORTALITY.
No deaths in 1937 were ascribed to maternal causes compared
with 7 in the year before when the maternal death rate was 7.57
per thousand total births. It is seven years since a maternal
mortality of nil was recorded.
The mortality per thousand births over the last 15 years was
4.5, over the last 10 years 4.4 and over the last 5 years 4.l.
