HOME SAFETY
The aspects of Home Safety stressed during the past year were "Sight
Protection" and "Do it Yourself with Safety". Booklets, leaflets and posters were
sent to school clinics and suitable organisations.
In view of the success of competitions for schoolchildren in previous years
it was decided to continue this form of Home Safety education. A simple form of
competition was devised and nearly three thousand entries were received. Prizes
were presented by the Mayor.
MEALS ON WHEELS
This much appreciated service continued to function with the smoothness and
efficiency shown in previous years.
5902 meals were supplied during the year to the housebound and to the Old
Age Pensioners' Club in London Road, for whivh thanks are due to the organiser,
Mrs. Forsdick and her voluntary workers.
Mrs. Frost continued as caterer during and, once again, supplied all the
old people with a free Xmas dinner. Free dinners were also supplied at New Tear
and Easter by friends of the W.V.S.
MINIATURE MASS RADIOGRAPHY
A general public session was held at the Vestry Hall May 5th-15th and a
number of factories were also visited. Statistics are shown below:-
