Poliomyelitis
There were no cases of poliomyelitis during the year. Since 1957
there have been only two cases notified in Mitcham, one in 1959 and
one in 1962, the latter having been contracted elsewhere but not
diagnosed till reaching Mitcham.
The following table shews the phenomenal decrease in notifications
of poliomyelitis in England and Wales since 1957, the first full
year of immunisation against the disease.
