Housing properties now owned by the Council amount to 4,524,

During the year a total of 253 families were rehoused from the
waiting list, 185 in Mitcham, 64 in the Frimley and Camberley Urban
District under the Town Expansion Scheme with which this Council
is associated, and four in new towns.
The number of new registrations, however, increased, and at the
end of the year the Housing Register stood at 1,313, a net increase
of 11 over the previous year.
There was an appreciable increase in the proportion of elderly
applicants on the waiting list during the year.
