Petroleum (Regulation) Acts, 1928 and 1936, and Petroleum
(Carbide of Calcium) Order, 1929.—Two licences were issued for
the storage of 1,224 lbs. of carbide of calcium.

Therefore, total number of properties used for
housing by the Mitcham Borough Council is 4,376
Number of People Rehoused
About 10,800 applicants have registered since 1945, and the
current list is still about 1,000, so that some 9,800 applicants have
been dealt with.
About 159 cottage flats or bungalows have been built for old
people since the war.
All the hutments have now been cleared.
