All samples were satisfactory with the exception of three informal
samples (chocolate cake mix 1, Tizer 1, and savoury cheese 1).
A warning letter was sent to the firms concerned with the
unsatisfactory samples.
On complaints being received the following cases were reported
to the Public Health Committee:—
One of contamination of a mineral water bottle.
One of insect infestation of a bar of chocolate.
One of a foreign body in a Lolly.
One of foreign matter in a loaf of bread.
Warning letters were sent to the firms concerned in these cases.
Ice-Cream
Four premises in the Borough are registered for the manufacture
of ice-cream and 141 for the storage of ice-cream. Fifty visits were
paid during the year.
Twenty-four samples of ice-cream were taken and examined for bacteriological purity. Thirteen samples were also tested for fat content. The results are tabulated below: —
