Ninety-five butterfat samples were submitted to the Public
Analyst for the Ministry of Food.
MILK (SPECIAL DESIGNATION) REGULATIONS, 1936-46.
During the year the Council granted the following number of
licences under the above named Order: —
Tuberculin Tested 8
Pasteurised 7
Pasteurising Plant 1
Supplementary Licences—
Pasteurised 7
Tuberculin Tested 7
Fifty-three samples of Graded Milk were submitted for bacteriological
examination. Fifty-one samples were satisfactory
and two were unsatisfactory. Communications were sent to the
dairies regarding the unsatisfactory samples.
BAKEHOUSES
The number of bakehouses in the district is 12.
Twenty-four visits have been paid.
DAIRIES AND COWSHEDS
There are 11 registered premises within the district, of which
10 are dairies and one cowshed. Very little bottling of milk is
carried out in the district. Milk is now supphed to the dairymen
in sealed bottles by the wholesalers.
During the year 54 visits of inspection were paid.
PIGGERIES
There are nine piggeries in the Borough. Fifty-one visits were
paid during the year.
OTHER FOOD PREPARING PLACES
There are eight other premises in which food is prepared for
human consumption. All of these have been systematically
visited.
