With the decrease in the severity of air raids there has been
a gradual return home of evacuees, and housing accommodation
is now becoming very limited, and will prove an important
problem in the future.
Woodlands Maternity Home continued to give satisfactory
service, although only the ground floor was available for cases.
I wish to take this opportunity of placing on record my
appreciation of the valuable assistance received from the members
of the staff and of the voluntary helpers who have given so
much of their time and energy.
In conclusion, I should like to thank the members of the
Council for the encouragement and consideration that they have
given me.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Yours obediently,
A. ASHWORTH,
Medical Officer of Health.
Public Health Department,
Mitcham Court,
Mitcham.
