Housing Act, 1936 (Part IV)—Overcrowding
A. (1) Number of houses overcrowded at end of year 118
(2) Number of families dwelling therein 163

B. Number of new cases of overcrowding reported
during the year 36
C. (1) Number of cases of overcrowding relieved
during the year 193
(2) Number of persons concerned in such cases 704
D. Particulars of any cases in which dwelling houses
have again become overcrowded after the local
authority have taken steps for the abatement of
overcrowding nil
Of the 193 cases of overcrowding relieved during the year,
21 families were rehoused by the Corporation, 88 families moved
from overcrowded premises, and in 60 cases, overcrowding was
relieved by a reduction of the number in the family due to
marriage, death and other causes.
In 24 cases, on re-inspection, the premises were found not to
be overcrowded, clue to rearrangement of accommodation, etc.
