midwives who referred patients to the clinics, and midwives were
welcomed at the centres, the patients' ante-natal notes being
available for their perusal.
" Extras " in the form of cod liver oil emulsion, Virol or
Parrish's Food, were supplied free to necessitous and debilitated
mothers and grants of milk were also made.
Remarks on Pathological Conditions
There were 66 cases of simple albuminuria of pregnancy and
three cases of toxaemia of pregnancy. Two of these latter were
immediately admitted to the City of London Maternity Hospital.
One of these made such satisfactory progress under treatment
that she was able to be discharged, and was ultimately delivered
in Woodlands as had been arranged. The third patient was
referred to her own doctor, who had her admitted to St. James'
Hospital.
Malpresentations were found in 57 cases. Of these, 29 underwent
spontaneous version, 10 were corrected at the clinics, 14
were referred to hospital, and version was performed in nine of
these cases.
Caesarian Section was done in six cases. The indications for
this operation were:-

II. Asymetrical pelvis.
III. Contracted pelvis plus an extended
breech presentation.
IV. Disproportion.
V. Dermoid Cyst in pouch of Douglas.
VI. Ovarian Cyst plus an extended
breech presentation.
The first two patients were delivered in Charing Cross
Hospital, the last four in the City of London Maternity Hospital.
In each case the mothers made an uneventful recovery, and the
baby was live and well,
