The ratio of non-notified tuberculosis deaths to the total
tuberculosis deaths is as follows:—
Non-notified tuberculosis deaths 10
Notified tuberculosis deaths 31
Percentage of non-notified T.B. deaths
(all forms) 24 per cent.
Percentage of non-notified pulmonary
T.B. deaths 14 per cent.
Treatment for cases of tuberculosis is under the control of the
Surrey County Council.
A dispensary has been established at Western Road, Mitcham.
Arrangements have been made by this Borough for the examination
of sputa from cases or suspected cases of tuberculosis, and during
the year 163 such examinations have been made.
Tuberculosis Care Committee.
The Mitcham Tuberculosis Dispensary area comprises the
Borough of Mitcham and the Urban District of Beddington and
Wallington.
Functions of Committee.
(1) To alleviate want or distress amongst tuberculous people,
providing, where necessary, extra nourishment, clothing, bedding,
coal, surgical appliances, travelling expenses and help in the home.
(2) To care for the families of patients in sanatoria so that
their changed economic circumstances shall not result in impaired
health, and that the sufferer shall not be harassed by undue anxiety.
