Cancer.
The number of deaths from cancer registered during the year
was 70, of which 29 were males and 41 were females, as compared
with 52 deaths last year.
There was no unusual site distribution of cancer in 1934. In
males, the usual sites—namely, stomach, rectum, intestines,
generative organs and liver—were affected ; in females, the
generative organs, breast, intestines, stomach and liver were
affected.
Cancer is mainly a disease of the digestive system, with the
exception of its preference for the generative system in females.
Arrangements have been made with the Radium Institute,
Portland Place, for the radium treatment of cases of cancer under
the care of this Council.
