CONTROL OF DISEASE
There were 1,214 notifications compared with 4-84- in 1962, This is largely
accounted for by the normal biennial epedemic of measles which accounted for 957 of the
cases. There was, however, a sharp increase in the number of whooping cough cases
from 14 to 92 and a baby girl died from this cause;
Tuberculosis
There were 74 notified new cases, an increase of 21 on the previous year, 59 of
these (42 males and 17 females) .had chest infection and the remaining 15 (6 males and
9 females) had involvement of the glands in 9 cases, renal tract in 2 cases, joints in
2 cases and serous memh-ar.es in 2 cases. There were only five deaths from this disease.
