(3) Unsatisfactory Premises & Equipment
Six summonses Defendant pleaded Guilty to three summonses and Not Guilty to three
summonses The three latter summonses were proved Defendant fined £2 on each of three
summonses and £1 on each of the remaining three, totalling £9 Costs of £2.2.0d.
Food Sampling
The Public Control Department of the County Council has supplied the following table of information on food and drugs sampling in the Borough during 1960:-

Commenting upon the unsatisfactory samples, the Public Control Officer makes the following
observations
"Milk. Two purchases of hot milk were made in a restaurant in the Borough and were submitted
to the Public Analyst as formal samples. The Analyst reported that the milk was deficient in
butter fat and also contained at least 12.2 per cent of added water. Legal proceedings were
instituted against the owner of the restaurant. An absolute discharge was granted and an order
was made for the payment of £3.3.0d costs.
A bottle of milk delivered to Belmont Secondary Modern School, Tottenham, was found to
contain splinters of glass. Legal proceedings were instituted against the dairy concerned and
a fine of £5 was imposed and an order for costs of £3.3.0d was made.
A further bottle of milk deliveredto West Green School was reported to have a stain inside
the bottle The bottle was submitted to the Public Analyst whoreported thatthe stain consisted
of a thin film of dust, dirt and organic debris An official caution was issued to the dairy
concerned.
