Sunday Trading
The following contraventions were observed:-
Section 22 (3) Record of Sunday employment not maintained 5
Section 47 Sale of non-exempted articles 2
Section 50 Exempted trade notices not exhibited 20
Jewish Traders
Section 53 The register of Jewish Traders was maintained and inspections
made. No infringements of the regulations were observed.
In connection with the infringements recorded above, 65 reinspections
were made , 61 informal notices sent to traders, and five formal warning
letters sent. Legal proceedings were taken in five cases under the Shops
Act, 1950 and in two cases under the Middlesex County Council Act, 1944.
The effect of the latter two cases has been to discourage unlicensed street
trading in the North Tottenham area.
