Patients at Tottenham make very full use of all the statutory social services
and also require much help from local authority, and voluntary resources. There
is a lack of self-sufficiency and self pride in some of the patients, who know only
too well what can be obtained from voluntary societies.
Although the number of patients seen for welfare purposes has declined the
department is still busy, as it now undertakes the majority of the work deputed to
the County Council under Section 28 of the Health Act."
