PART V
FACTORIES.
Routine visits are made to all factories in the borough, and an
exchange of information is carried on with the H.M. Inspector of
Factories.
The number of complaints regarding noise from factories has
increased, and where possible these have been dealt with in a satisfactory
manner. Co-operation with the Town Planning department
is encouraged, but we do find there is a tendency to regard the
"planning angle" as being of more importance than that of the
public health. Too often we find that complaints have been investigated
on "planning grounds," only to find that nothing can be done.
Delay would be avoided if such complaints were investigated jointly
and the departments were together.
Factories Act, 1937.
