The midwives were again permitted to use the ambulance service
for very distant or emergency cases during the blackout hours.
This privilege was much appreciated by the midwives, and was
used only where really necessary. Six calls were made on the
service during the year.
The co-operation between the health visitors and the midwives
continued to be very close, and was of great benefit to both the staffs
and to the mothers. Sterilised packages of dressings were still
very popular, the number supplied during the year being 705.
Post-certificate courses were again arranged for our midwives
under the scheme provided by the London Cbunty Council.
