Ice Cream.
Premises for the sale of ice cream in this district do not require to
be registered, but the premises are visited for general cleanliness and 70
such visits were made during the year.
Bread.
174 visits were made to the 52 bakehouses. The premises were
found to be well maintained.
Meat, Fish and Fruit.
Much of the meat consumed in the district is imported. This meat
is of a good quality and entry into this country is not permitted unless
it is accompanied by a Certificate from the country of origin, and is
further examined by Inspectors at the port of arrival. In Tottenham
there are 116 butchers' shops, 152 fruiterers' shops and 76 fish shops.
There are 2 Registered and 5 Licensed Slaughterhouses in the
Borough; one of the former carries on a large wholesale trade. 794 visits
were made to the slaughterhouses and 21.006 carcases were inspected.
