CONVALESCENT HOME TREATMENT.
(1) Invalid Children's Aid Association.
I am indebted to Miss A. Johnson, Local Secretary, Invalid Children's
Aid Association, for the following report:—
In connection with our work relating to the Maternity and Child
Welfare Department during 1938, I find that in all we dealt with
60 children under five years of age, and in four cases we were able to send
away the mothers with their children.
Perhaps I ought to draw attention to the fact that we have had a
very difficult year owing to infectious illness occurring in the Convalescent
Homes which necessitated longer extensions.
May I at the same time thank you and the Maternity and Child
Welfare Department for all the kind help and consideration given to us
in any difficulties which arose.
(2) Other Organisations.
In addition, Convalescent Home treatment was obtained for
13 children under five years of age by arrangement with other organisations.
During the year 19 mothers participated in the Committee's scheme
for the provision of Convalescent Home treatment.
PROPAGANDA.

AT THE MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE CLINICS.
During 1938, 520 collective talks were given by Health Visitors to
mothers at the Maternity and Child Welfare Clinics. The following
are some of the subjects dealt with:—
1. Ante-Natal Care (diet, clothing, preparation for the coming
confinement and care of sterilized outfit).
2. Breast feeding, management and re-establishment.
