Journeys organised by the Shaftesbury Society.
Two parties of children, 70 boys and 70 girls, each in charge of
4 teachers, spent a fortnight at the Shaftesbury Society's Hostels at
Whitstable and Dovercourt respectively in July. Maintenance costs in
respect of the children were borne partly by the Society and partly by
the Education Committee, the latter's share being £120. In addition,
the Committee made a grant of £40 to meet the cost of fares, maintenance
of teachers, and incidental items.
(c) Physical Training.
The year 1935 has seen various changes in Physical Education in
the Elementary Schools of Tottenham. The new Syllabus, issued by the
Board of Education, was introduced into the Schools in 1934. It is an
accepted fact that this Syllabus is a great advance on its predecessors.
