The Shops Act of 1934 which came into operation on the 31st day of
December, 1934, stipulates the number of hours during which young
persons under the age of 18 may be employed, and makes provision as to
the arrangements in shops and warehouses for the health and comfort of
workers.
During 1935, 18 premises were exempted from the provision of
sanitary conveniences and washing facilities, suitable and easily accessible
accommodation being available; 2 premises were exempted from the
provision of sanitary conveniences only.
SANITARY ADMINISTRATION OF THE BOROUGH.
STAFF.
In April an additional Sanitary Inspector was appointed (Mr. Cass)
who had been previously employed as a Sanitary Inspector in the City
of Liverpool and the County Borough of Wallasey.
