Deaths of children 1-5 years, there were 8 deaths in this group as compared with
2 in 1957 and 10 in 1956, Three of the children who died were under 2 years, 4 were aged
3 and 1 was aged 4 years. Three died of the delayed results of congenital defects, 2 of
malignant conditions, 2 of the complications of respiratory infection and 1 as the result
of a car accident.
Maternal deaths there was 1 maternal death, which followed caesarean section
undertaken because of placenta praevia.
