Particulars are given below regarding the various types of heat-treated milk which were sampled during the year and submitted to the appropriate tests.

In all cases of samples failing to comply with the Regulations, letters of caution were
sent and further samples taken proved satisfactory.
EXAMINATION OF MILK POR TUBERCLE
(GUINEA PIG TOST).
During the year 47 samples of milk were taken from various sources, as shown below, and
were examined for the presence of tubercle bacillus. All samples proved negative.

THE PUBLIC HEALTH (CONDENSED MILK) REGULATIONS, 1923-1943. During the year 14 samples of
condensed milk were submitted for examination. Of this number, 9 samples were also examined for
the purpose of testing the equivalent© This test determines whether the contents of the tin will,
when converted, give the amount of milk which is declared on the label.
CONDENSED PULL-CREAM MILK, SWEETENED. Eight Samples. Of these, 5 were also tested for
the equivalent.
CONDENSED MACHINE-SKXMMED MILK, SWEETENED. Five Samples. Of these, 4 were also tested
for the equivalent.
HOMOGENISED EVAPORATED MILK. One Sample.
All samples, including the labelling requirements, complied with the Regulations.
