SHOPS ACTS, 1912-1936. Owing to the limited amount
of goods for sale in shops, and the restrictions on lighting, the
infringements of the Shops (Hours of Closing) Act, 1928, were
of a minor character, and it was not found necessary to take
legal proceedings in any case.
The Inspectors' time was chiefly taken up in revising the
register, ascertaining that the prescribed forms, as required by
the Shops Acts, 1912/1936, were exhibited in the shops, and a
proper record of the hours of employment of young persons was
duly kept; also assisting generally with other duties of the
department owing to the shortage of staff at various times.
