Deaths. The total deaths from tuberculosis of all types
during the year was 227, of which 138 were of males and 89 of
females. In the previous year the total number was 236, of which
138 were of males and 98 of females. Of the total deaths from
tuberculosis, the pulmonary form of the disease accounted for
203, or 89.43 Per cent. the non.pulmonary form for 24, or 10.57
per cent. The death rate from pulmonary tuberculosis was 0.7S

all forms of the disease 0.87 per 1,000. The corresponding figures
for 1936 were:—pulmonary 0.78 per 1,000, non-pulmonary 0.11
per 1,000, making a total of 0.89 per 1,000. The figures for 1937
therefore present a decrease of 0.02 per 1,000 in the non-pulmonary
rates.
