Under the existing arrangements children under five years
of age can be admitted for treatment to St. Mary's Hospital,
Plaistow, and to the Invalid and Crippled Children's Hospital,
Balaam Street, E.13. The majority of children admitted to the
latter Hospital are suffering from some dietetic disorder, and are
referred for admission through the Senior Assistant Medical
Officer for Maternity and Child Welfare. Sixteen cots are

medical or surgical cases.
If necessary, such children can be admitted to the surgical ward of the Society's Hospital, where the Council reserve four beds for this purpose.
