Midwives booked cases transferred to hospital during confinement
During 1970 38 (26) patients were transferred to hospital during pregnancy or labour,
27 of whom were delivered by domiciliary midwives in hospital.

Local Supervising Authority (Midwives Act)
The Borough Council as the Local Supervising Authority are responsible for supervising
the work of all midwives in the Borough. The following number of state certified midwives gave
notice of their intention to practise as midwives in the borough during the year 1970:- 100 (97)
