Informal action was taken in appropriate cases to reduce the noise level.
SHOPS
There were 1,741 shop premises in 1968 on the register and 1,674 in 1969
and inspections were made during the year under the Shops Act 1950 and the
Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963.

During 1968, 23 and 1969, 82 premises were registered in accordance with
the Act, making the total number 1,762.
The number of persons employed in the classes of premises as reported to the Minister of Labour at the end of the year is as follows:-
