sub-normal persons over five years of age in the community, and during the year
227 families received support from visits by Mental Welfare Officers.
Holiday arrangements for the adults attending Banstead Training
Centre were made by Surrey County Council as in previous years. Four of our
children under 16 years of age were able to join Surrey parties and we are

Training Centres
The Council's plan for re-building the Junior Training Centre on its
present site at Robin Hood Lane has been welcomed by parents and members of the
staff who are at present working in unsatisfactory premises. Unfortunately
to enable the re-building to take place, temporary premises have had to be
provided which can of necessity be only adequate to meet the need.
Handicapped children need the best facilities which can be provided if they
are to obtain maximum benefit from their attendance while the exacting and patient
woik of the teachers and their assistants merits the kind of building which
is now being planned.
