Both work on a continuous cycle of pressure filtration and
chlorination, the actual water being emptied out once a year and the
Baths being filled with mains water.
Records are kept at both Baths showing the number of bathers, water
temperature and residual chlorine levels at various times during the day
and from these it was clear that an adequate degree of chlorination was
being maintained.
Four bacteriological samples were taken from the Maiden Road Bath
and five from the Throwley Road Bath. All nine samples were reported as
satisfactory
In addition, there is an open air learner swimming bath at Avenue
Road County Primary School, Belmont Rise., Belmont. A small pressure
filter and chlorinator was in use and a complete circulation of water was
obtained every eight hours. Three samples of the water were taken for
bacteriological examination, and were found to be satisfactory.

The new Low Level Pumping Station came into operation in July,
together with the Preliminary Treatment Unit and Rising Mains associated
with the Station. The Pumping Station, which is working very satisfactorily
is dependent upon a supply from the Electricity Board for a time until the
Generating Station which is now being constructed is operational.
