MASS RADIOGRAPHY
A Mass Miniature Radiography Unit visited the Borough from 7th to
24th November, 1961, and was stationed at the Public Hall, Sutton
Three thousand, five hundred and seventy four persons were examined
The results were as follows:-
Male | Female | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
Number of persons examined. | |||
General Public | 1092 | 1601 | 2693 |
Industrial Groups | 384 | 497 | 881 |
TOTAL | 1476 | 2098 | 3574 |
Pulmonary Tuberculosis: | |||
Cases requiring treatment or close clinic supervision | 4 | - | 4 |
Lung Cancer | 1 | 1 | 2 |
The incidence of active Pulmonary Tuberculosis was 1.1 per thousand
persons examined. The findings are an index of infection in a sample of
the population.
Although this Survey shows the value of Mass Radiography in
securing the diagnosis and treatment of Pulmonary Tuberculosis, it also
shows that Mass Miniature Radiography is increasingly important in
finding cases of Lung Cancer in the general population.
