Smoke Abatement and Atmospheric Pollution
There are but few industrial chimneys in the Borough.
8 complaints of smoke emission were received and dealt with during
the year, 5 of these were in respect of bonfires, one in respect of an
incinerator, and two from boiler stacks attached to hospital premises.
Grit Deposit Measuring Gauges
In conjunction and with the co-operation of the Department of Scientific
& Industrial Research, the grit deposit measuring gauges have been
maintained and samples collected monthly for analytical examination.
The Borough is adequately covered by three grit deposit gauges which
are sited roughly 1 Vi miles apart.
