During the year 1677 visits were made to food business premises, 86 notices were served in connection with the 166 infringements discovered as detailed in the following table:-

It is gratifying to record that the majority of the traders continue to
show a willing co-operation to comply with the requirements of the
Regulations. Mention must also be made that the standard of hygiene in
the various food premises and the cleanliness of the persons engaged in
the handling of food is much improved.
Prosecutions
Food Hygiene Regulations, 1955 to 1960
No proceedings were taken during the year under the Regulations.
Complaints Regarding Food Unfit for Human Consumption
The following is a summary of various complaints received and
investigated during the year.
The general circumstances of these cases did not warrant legal
proceedings being taken, but the merits of each case were considered
and appropriate action taken where necessary.
