that a Building Preservation Order should be made in respect of these
premises together with the adjacent historical buildings known as
"Whitehall" and "Nonsuch Cottage", but if an appropriate form of development
could be negotiated on the land at the rear of the properties there would
be no objection to the demolition of Nos. 5, 7 and 9, Maiden Road.
Further re-development plans are now awaited.
(D) 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15, Park Road, Cheam
These dwellings comprise a terrace of five wooden constructed
houses and a vacant shop, probably erected in the seventeenth century.
Nos. 7, 9, 11 and 13 Park Road had been placed by the Minister of Housing
and Local Government on the Supplementary List (Grade 3) of buildings in
the Borough referred to in (C) above.
An official representation was made to the Borough Council on the
27th September, 1960 in respect of the five houses, as being unfit for human
habitation and not capable at a reasonable expense of being rendered so
fit. It was decided to accept an undertaking from the owners as to the
future use of the houses, two of which were unoccupied at the year-end.

(A) 125, 127, 129, 131 and 131a, Cheam Common Road and
1 and 3, Woodbine Lane, Worcester Park
Consideration was given by the Borough Council on the 22nd
November 1960 to official reports submitted regarding the above-mentioned
properties consisting of six houses and a vacant shop. The dwellings
were stated to be unfit for human habitation and incapable of being
rendered so fit at a reasonable expense, but as it was understood that the
owners were willing to negotiate for the sale of the properties to the
Borough Council, decision was deferred and instructions given that the
District Valuer be asked to negotiate with the owners on the basis of his
previous report.
On the 20th December, 1960 the Borough Council recommended,
after having considered the District Valuer's report and valuation of these
houses together with Nos. 5 & 7 Woodbine Lane, that all the properties be
purchased at an inclusive price, subject to a loan being obtained from the
Ministry of Housing and Local Government.
(B) 5, 7, 9 and 11, Wilcox Road, Sutton
An official representation was made to the Borough Council on the
20th December, 1960 in respect of these four houses, (two of which are of
back-to-back construction) as being unfit for human habitation and not
capable at a reasonable expense of being rendered so fit. It was decided,
as the owner was willing to sell these properties to the Corporation, to
defer consideration of the reports, pending the outcome of negotiations
between the owner and District Valuer on behalf of the Council.
